Norn of Death

Back to Pagan, 2016

Completing the trio of the Origin and Life Norns, the Norn of Death is inspired by buddhis, ancestral japanese religion related to the cult of ancestors. The right part of the hand-dyed cotton crepe dress comes on the top, like the kimonos of the deceased. The dress is closed by braided leather belts using the exact patterns of the “Shutara”, a sacred ornament used for buddhist ceremonies. The fine silk chiffon sleeves are attached to shoulder pads reminding us of traditional japanese clothing.
